Fūnk-é Joseph is a black, nonbinary game + narrative designer currently directing two unannounced video game projects.


In October 2023, they founded an independent video game studio called Play Underground Games! where they serve as director and narrative lead. This past week they won first place at the 2024 Ubisoft Indie Series for their work on their unannounced debut project.

as a day job, they currently work as a creative producer for Focus Entertainment, handling the English text for one of Europe’s premier video game publishers and developers. they have shipped 12 games as a communications editor including Plague Tale: Requiem, Warhammer 40K: Boltgun, Aliens: Dark Descent, and Dordogne.

over the past 5+ years they have freelance written, produced, and hosted for VICE, IGN, MTV, Toronto International Film Festival, Kinda Funny, GameSpot, PC Gamer, Fanbyte, Paste Games, the Art Gallery of Ontario, and more.

they are 25 years old and hold a bachelor’s degree in journalism from Toronto Metropolitan University
